Scones and Scoundrels does a good job of giving the feel of western Scotland, with its characters, their activities and the use of Gaelic sprinkled in. One of my favorite aspects of Molly's writing is that she has such a great facility with words, sprinkling humorous word-play throughout, while developing the plot and the characters/5(43).

Scones and Scoundrels by Molly MacRae has everything that I look for in a cozy mystery. The female leads arent too obnoxious, and there is also a picturesque setting of a small town in Scotland.

One of the issues I had with the first book in the series, Plaid and Plagiarism, was that I couldnt figure out the personalities of the main characters/5.

I really loved listening to Scones and Scoundrels. This book transported me to Scotland and away from the painful realities of life, giving me a lot of pleasure Scones and scoundrels book the process.

I highly recommend the book, but I do recommend listening to Plaid and Plagiarism first in order to meet the owners of the book shop and their neighbors. But, the book was a little too slow-paced for my taste. Saying that, fans of mysteries set in bookstores, or Paige Shelton's Scottish Bookshop mysteries might want to try this series. Molly MacRae's website is Scones and Scoundrels by Molly MacRae.
